Initial ConfigurationAfter
installation, access the Proxmox Backup Server web management console by using a web browser and entering the server's IP address. The default port is 8007, in HTTPS, so the full address will be https://IP-IMPOSTATO:8007.
Log in with the root
administrator credentials created during installation.
User Creation for
BackupsFirst we create the system user we will use for backups by following the path "Configuration/Access Control/Manage User/Add."

We select the secondary disk, which we will use for backups, in "Administration/Storage Disks." If the disk is empty and unformatted, it will be reported as "unused."

We enter the "Folder" tab and create a "Directory."
We select the mount point, filesystem, a name for the datastore and select add as Datastore.

Assigning PermissionsFinished
formatting our disk, we will see a new datastore present in "Datastore / datastore1."
By clicking on it we can add permissions to the user we created earlier

After formatting the disk, we will see a new datastore in "Datastore / datastore1".
Let's add "DatastoreAdmin" permissions to the user we created earlier, e.g. backup@pbs
.

Connecting Proxmox Backup Server to Proxmox VEConnect
our Proxmox Backup Server datastore to Proxmox Virtual Environment (PVE). Under "Datacenter / Storage," we add a new storage "Proxmox Backup Server."

At this point we will need the fingerprint of Proxmox Backup Server, we can find it on the PBS in "Dashboard", let's copy it from here

Back on the PVE we can enter "ID" the name that will be displayed for the storage in the Virtual Environment, IP of the backup, username of the created backup, password, Datastore and Fingerprint

Now our Proxmox VE will show us the Proxmox Backup storage connected and ready.

Creating the First Backup CopyWith
the Proxmox Backup Server storage connected, we select a virtual machine or container and start the backup by choosing the "pbs" type storage.

In the Backup Server web console, we can monitor the progress of the backup in "Datastore / nomedatastore".
