Open ports of Technicolor TG588v and TG582n
Port forwarding on the MediaAccess Technicolor modem/router.
The TG588v is a modem/router provided by Fastweb, Infostrada and Telecom, for Fibre (VSDL2) users, but it has the same settings as the MediaAccess TG582n (ADSL) by default UPnP (Universal Plug & Play) is already enabled, which takes care of opening listening ports for enabled applications, as of today the version distributed has firmware 10.5.3.O
To open the ports (also called port mapping) on the Technicolor MediaAccess TG588v or TG582n, in case the applications do not support UPnP, just follow this procedure:
- To receive connections from the outside, it is necessary to request if the provider does not provide it automatically, thepublic IP address from phone support (e.g. Fastweb)
- Log on to Technicolor at
http://192.168.1.254/
orhttp://dsldevice.lan/
- Click on Toolbox
- Sharing games and applications
Create a port range
At this point we can receive direct connections from the internet network, we can interact with video surveillance, have high id on Emule or Bittorrent
L configuration needs to create an 'application, selecting the port numbers to assign, if it is already in the list of defaults, we can skip this step
- click on create new game or application
- We enter the name for example video surveillance
- We choose whether to copy it from an existing application or create a new one
- We enter theport range and connection type (UDP, TCP or both), these settings vary by service and are usually visible in the program settings or product manual
- We select Add
- When all are entered we can return to assigning to devices by clicking Assign a game or application to a device
Assigning ports
At this point we have created a new application that we will see in the list of assignables, we can proceed like an already known service
- At the bottom of the assignable list, which should be empty at this point, we select the application of interest
- In the list next to it we select the name of the computer or device to forward the port to, in case we don't know it we can use the IP address by selecting user-defined and entering the IP by hand
- We click on apply
Now the port is open to the outside world and allows incoming connections
Network file sharing
Most Technicolor router series have an external USB port (closed with a black cap) that allows audio and video sharing to smartTVs and network receivers
Through the UPNP and DLNA protocols it allows us to share a USB device such as an external disk or thumb drive so that it can be read from within the network with ease
Through FTP we can also allow the transmission of files (even non-media) from the connected usb disk, such as making a backup over the network
