Upgrade Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10 Without the Internet the guide

Those who have a Windows 7 or Windows 8 PC will have been asked to upgrade to the new version of the operating system

The Windows 10 upgrade is time-consuming and requires maintaining an active internet connection in order to download the updates; those with consumer or slow connections are more comfortable creating a USB flash drive or disk (user's choice) and performing the upgrade offline at times when the computer is not in use

Image download

To upgrade, you need to download the Windows 10 ISO image directly from Microsoft, the lightest version for those with little time or bandwidth is the one with only one language.

USB Preparation

To carry out this procedure we use the Rufus, which allows us to create a bootable USB device, it can also suffice just to extract the ISO image, with WinRAR or similar to a folder on our removable device

Now we can connect the USB device to the PC to be upgraded and launch the setup and follow the upgrade instructions

Post installation cleanup

After the installation of the operating system, when we have tested that everything is working properly, it is convenient to delete all backup files to free up space on our disk

For cleaning we use the Windows cleaning program: "Disk Cleanup" already preinstalled, if not so you can install it from the Windows components in the control panel

By running it as Administrator we can delete the restore files created during the upgrade (usually freeing up several GB)
