How to Open FASTGate Ports: Complete Configuration Guide
The interface for opening the FASTGate ports and managing it, is simple and smooth; an Android app is also available, downloadable from the Playstore
The FASTGate series, has a 'common interface on the various models and the procedures are standardized on all modems
The routers, distributed by Fastweb, for fiber customers, are finally mid-range devices, with FTTH connection possibilities, the first versions support a GBIC slot, placed at the side or at the back of the router, we finally see some effort, even in providing higher quality hardware than previous routers
We often deal, with these types of routers, during our servicing, the all-fiber connection and Gigabit speeds, allow you to take better advantage of solutions designed for the cloud, to have backup, high reliability, geographically distributed and migrate to a cloud-native approach, your business
Open ports
To configure Port Mapping in case applications do not support UPNP, in the example on the FASTGate rtv1907vw-d228 modem just follow this procedure:
- To receive connections from outside the Fastweb network you must request if the provider does not provide it automatically, thepublic IP address from the telephone support available at 192193 for the home user
- Access the Fastgate through your favorite browser, in my case Firefox, by copying the address
192.168.1.254
or myfastgate in the address bar - When you first log in you will be prompted to set a password
- Log in
- Click on Advanced
You can use either the simplified configuration or manually assign the ports to be opened in case the program is not available or does not work with the preset configuration
Simplified port configuration
Let's follow this procedure to enable incoming ports
- We enter the Advanced tab
- We click on the left, on simplified port configuration
- In the Port mapping services section, associate new port mapping to service
- We select the service, e.g. emule, bittorrent, ssh...
- We select online device or the IP address of the device to associate port forward to
- We select the empty box to the right of the screenshot and apply

Manual port configuration
In case the required service is not available or does not work we can manually configure which ports to open and to which device on our network by following this procedure
- We enter the advanced tab
- We click on the left, on manual port configuration
- We leave DMZ and Firewall disabled
- We click Associate new port mapping
- Let's add the name of the service
- The IP address of the device to associate the ports with
- We select theport range, (if only one we can enter the same number) and the protocol
- Usually we use the same ports both external and internal
- Click on apply

Fixed IP on the PC
To make sure that our PC does not change IP, losing the port association, it is necessary to configure on the machine a static IP, here you can find the guide to set a fixed IP on Windows
Fixed IP on Linux
On Linux you can use edit the /etc/hosts
file, setting a network IP, or use Network-Manager for a GUI configuration
